1. Who we are

Living Manna is an independent, non-commercial Bible reading app for English and Amharic. This policy applies to the official app distributed on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

2. Information we do not collect

Living Manna is designed without code paths to collect or transmit personal information. Specifically, we do not:

• Require accounts. No sign-up, sign-in, email, username, phone number, or password.
• Use analytics or crash reporting. No Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Sentry, Segment, or similar SDKs.
• Show advertisements. No ad networks or programmatic advertising frameworks.
• Collect tracking identifiers. No IDFA, GAID, Android ID, IMEI, or hardware MAC addresses.
• Access location or biometrics. No GPS, geolocation, Touch ID, Face ID, or biometric sensors.
• Log reading activity remotely. The app does not connect to our servers in the background.

3. Information stored on your device

To provide reading, study, and personalization features, Living Manna stores data in the secure sandbox provided by iOS and Android. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to export or share it.

• Reading progress and history — last book, chapter, and verse, plus recent history.
• Annotations — bookmarks, highlights, and personal notes.
• Reading plans and streaks — enrolled plans, milestones, and streak counts.
• Reading statistics — aggregated on-device metrics such as time spent reading.
• Preferences — language, theme, typography, layout, and reminder settings.

You can delete all local data by uninstalling the app, or through your device settings (iOS: delete the app; Android: Settings → Apps → Living Manna → Clear storage).

4. Device permissions

When the app requests a permission, it is used only for the feature described below. All processing happens on your device.

• Notifications — local daily verse reminders and reading plan alerts. Scheduling is handled by your device. There is no remote push server.
• Exact alarms and boot receiver (Android) — keeps reminder times accurate in low-power modes and restores your schedule after a device restart.
• Photo library and media storage — only when you save a verse card image or choose a custom background from your library. Only the photo you select is accessed.
• Wake lock (Android) — briefly keeps the device awake when a local alarm fires so the notification can be delivered.

5. Export and sharing

You control your data. Living Manna supports export and sharing only when you initiate it:

• Backup and restore — in Settings, you can export a human-readable JSON file with bookmarks, notes, history, and preferences. The app opens your device's share sheet so you can save the file wherever you choose.
• Verse and card sharing — when you share a verse or image, content is passed to the system share dialog. We do not receive or record what you share or with whom.

Once data leaves the app through the share sheet, the privacy practices of the receiving service apply.

6. Bible translations

Living Manna bundles Scripture translations for offline reading. The current production release includes the following editions only:

Translation text is displayed as provided by each copyright holder. Other editions may appear in development builds but are not included in the production app distributed through the App Store or Play Store.

7. Children's privacy

Living Manna does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because no data is collected or transmitted, the app is compatible with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable provisions of the GDPR for minors.

8. Retention, deletion, and security

Retention. We operate no external servers or databases. Your data exists only on your device or in backup files you create.

Deletion. To permanently remove all notes, bookmarks, progress, and settings, delete the app or clear its storage in device settings.

Security. Local data is protected by iOS and Android application sandboxes, which prevent other apps from accessing your Living Manna files.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect app changes, platform requirements, or legal standards. When we do, the effective date at the top of this page will change.

If a future feature requires network communication or changes our data practices, we will disclose it clearly in the app and ask for your consent before enabling it.
